Part 3: Refrigerant Charging & Cooling Test

Step 6 – Charge refrigerant. Follow nameplate spec for amount. Purge hoses first. With engine off, charge through HP port, then both HP/LP ports. Close all valves when full.

Step 7 – Engine idle. Set A/C to max cool. Final charge through LP port only.

Step 8 – Verify cooling. Let system stabilize 5-10 min. Keep new compressor RPM ≤2000 during test. Check: evaporator pipe should feel cold; vent temperature ≤15°C (59°F).

Avoid sudden acceleration — it can cause hydraulic shock.
