The automotive industry is moving toward a unified global standard - ISO/NP 26170, which is currently under development. This international standard applies only to EV compressors and will specify:
Performance test requirements and methods
Rating methods and test tolerances
Marking provisions for automotive A/C compressors
Why does this matter? The rapid growth of electric vehicles (projected 35% market penetration by 2025) and the shift toward environmentally friendly refrigerants like R-1234yf and R-744.
A global standard means consistent quality no matter where an EV compressor is made or used.
